~ Guiding children to learn, believe, accept and share God’s Word. ~
Patti Jordan ~ Director
The purpose and mission of St. Luke’s Children Church ministry is to help teach children how to apply the Word of God to their daily lives by guiding them to learn, believe, accept and share The Word. Children’s Church is for children between the ages of 6-12 and occurs during the sermon of the regular service with a staff of trained teachers. There is a scripture lesson along with at least two activities that allow the children to demonstrate their comprehension of the lesson for that day. The two primary focuses of each lesson is CONNECTION and APPLICATION. The Children’s Church teachers want the children to relate the Bible lesson to real-life situations (connection) and understand how to apply the Bible knowledge to help deal with life’s situations (application).
The children usually will receive a parent handout that they will share with parents so that the Bible lesson can be applied throughout the week. The children are also taught the Pledge to the Bible and the Christian Flag along with the Apostle’s Creed.
All in all, The Children’s Church Ministry wants to create a Christian Community of children and adults who enjoy life together as a Christian family who are committed to Jesus Christ and each other.
